Chapter 212: Gelna
Chapter 212: Gelna
After the previous two pairs of customers, no one came. Kadyn wasn’t disappointed. Though a little eager to expand the influence of his shop. He knew it would take time to build trust amongst the people. But once they found a foothold at this place, no one would be able to shake their position.
That night Rayna made them delicious food. Zelie and Hayla helped her.
"Wow, such a nice smell!" Suddenly a shadow flew towards the dining table and transformed into a charming lady. Alerathla. Everyone already knew about her. So no one was surprised.
Kadyn nodded at her and then turned towards people on the table. "We don’t have much time. We have to attract customers to our shop."
"What should we do, brother?" asked Elora, taking a bite off of the loaf in her hand.
Kadyn thought briefly and then said, "Have any of you distributed banners ever before?"
"What do you mean?" asked the people at the table, confused.
"Ah," Kadyn rubbed his chin and explained. "If we want to spread the name of our shop, the word of mouth won’t be enough."
Everyone nodded.
Kadyn looked at them. "So to do that, we need to use other methods, such as banners and posters. Tonight no one would sleep except Melvona and Kove. We are going to make them the entire night."
The group grunted, but no one objected.
"No, we also want to help!" Suddenly the two children said in unison, looking at Kadyn with innocent wide eyes.
Kadyn eyed Rayna, and the woman smiled helplessly before nodding. Melvona and Kove were Spell Casters. Spending a night without sleep won’t affect their health.
"Alright, let’s do it, then!"
——
No one slept that night. The sun rose and Kadyn walked out of the shop, rubbing his eyes and stretched. Soon, several people sauntered out of the shop with a bunch of posters in their hands. These were new employees that Kadyn had recruited from the Ceston empire.
Then he walked into the main hall and took his seat, like always, waiting for the customers.
"Is that really correct, Arilie?" A group of Demi-humans appeared outside the shop. There were two familiar faces amongst them. The question was asked by a woman with cat ears to one of the fox sisters from yesterday. "Did you really buy those swords from this shop and at such a low price?"
"Of course," replied Arilie. "Me and my younger sister, Arilile, found this shop by chance. We never thought we would be able to get such amazing artifacts at such a low price. We are not from noble families, after all, we don’t have unlimited money. We need to spend our money very carefully."
"Good," nodded the cat eared woman, her eyes glittering with eagerness and expectation. Her condition might be better than Arilie and Arilile, but she wasn’t doing too well either. To become a powerful mage, one needed to spend money like water and they lacked just that. Even though they were talented, they could not progress without resources.
"I heard that sister Gelna is about to break through to the Creation Rank. Is that true?" asked the younger fox sister, Arilile, glancing at the cat-eared woman with shining eyes.
Gelna shook her head. "Sometimes a small step is like crossing an entire ocean. I’m stuck in that kind of situation. Even I don’t know how long it would take for me to reach the Creation Rank."
Arilile nodded and fell silent.
Soon the group arrived at Heaven’s Door.
As the group of six people, five women and one man, entered the shop, Kadyn lifted his head and found two familiar faces. The fox sisters. The other people were also Demi-humans, examining the shop with eager eyes and fascinated faces. The strongest in the group was a woman with cat ears. Following her, there were two with rabbit ears and one had wolf ears.
It was very easy to identify Demi-humans. Either from their ears or tails.
Kadyn gestured towards Hayla, who went to receive them. It didn’t take long for exclamations to sound. They were shocked to learn the prices of the products. Kadyn smiled as he eyed them whispering among themselves excitedly. Though he could hear them clearly. Nothing could escape from his ears and eyes in the shop.
"Wow, look at that potion!" suddenly one of the rabbit-eared women exclaimed. "Is that a breakthrough potion?"
"Shhh," Gelna gestured towards her. "Don’t shout." However, when she looked at the potion, her expression froze. The potion was for breaking through to the Creation Rank. Furthermore, it had no side-effects at all. No sequelae would be left behind. And the most wonderful thing was that she could afford the price.
Gelna turned towards Hayla with an agitated look and said, "I want this potion."
Just as Hayla was about to fetch the potion from the shelf, a voice sounded in the hall. "I also want this potion."
Everyone turned towards the entrance and found a group of Demi-humans, around ten of them, walking into the hall. The speaker was the cat-eared man.
"Nedon!" Gelna gritted her teeth as she spotted the man. She turned towards Hayla and said anxiously, "I was the first customer. So I should get this potion."
"What first customer?" sneered Nedon. "Whoever offers the most money would get the potion."
Gelna’s face turned pale. She knew that she could never match Nedon in money. He was the son of the elder, while her parents were the normal people in the Cat Tribe. Once he had asked her to become his concubine, but she refused him. From then on, he started to find excuses to make things difficult for her. If the elder council of the tribe hadn’t recognised her talent, her condition would have turned grimmer.
Nedon no longer paid her attention and turned towards Hayla and said in an arrogant and complacent tone, "I’ll give you double the price of your product. I want that potion." Though he was already at Creation Rank, he could always gift it to someone else. As long as it didn’t go to Gelna, everything was fine.
Hayla eyed Nedon and then shook her head. "Sorry, sir. This customer has already bought it." Then she retrieved the potion from the shelf and handed it over to Gelna. "You can complete the translation on the counter," she said.
The entire hall was silent. Everyone looked at the potion in Gelna’s hand with stunned expressions—Gelna herself was gobsmacked.
