Chapter 478 - 480: Wedding Extra (Part 2)
Ethan Shaw reluctantly pulled his gaze away. Under everyone’s stares, he felt a little awkward and cleared his throat. "I couldn’t help myself."
Jenna Shaw let out a snort of laughter. "I never thought I’d see the day my brother would blush."
As their sibling relationship had grown closer, Jenna would now make harmless jokes at Ethan’s expense.
Ethan Shaw gave her a gentle, noncommittal smile.
A knock sounded at the door, and the butler came in to announce that their adoptive grandfather, Anson Colt, had arrived.
Naomi Kenway was surprised for a moment, then she quickly hurried downstairs.
Anson Colt was getting on in years, and a recent cold had triggered many of his old health problems. Naomi had just visited him yesterday, urging him to take care of himself. She hadn’t expected him to insist on coming over.
Anson Colt was in a wheelchair, being pushed by a helper. Despite this, he looked to be in excellent spirits, his face beaming with joy. He had changed into a very fine Tang suit, and one could tell at a glance how much this occasion meant to him.
Seeing Naomi and the others walk down, he smiled and held out a frail hand. "Why did you come down? I was just about to go up and see you."
Naomi Kenway smiled and took his hand. "How could I not come down after hearing you’d arrived?" She chided him gently, "Honestly. Didn’t the doctor tell you to rest? Why are you being disobedient again?"
Anson Colt waved his hand and chuckled. "It’s not a long trip. Besides, on such an important day, how could I rest easy without coming to see my granddaughter? Think of it as me soaking up some of the happy atmosphere. This old bag of bones is truly happy!"
The party was bustling and noisy, so Naomi quickly took Anson Colt to a much quieter room.

On the day of the wedding, Jane Chandler had debated whether or not she should come. But she thought about it—it was her son’s wedding, after all. The first one had been filled with so much regret; she couldn’t possibly be absent this time.
Jane Chandler changed into a beautiful outfit and took out her most gorgeous and formal jewelry from a chest she kept tucked away. After arriving in the main hall, she took on the responsibility of greeting the guests.
In the main hall, a giant standee of the bride and groom had a brief introduction. As a famous actress, Naomi Kenway’s accomplishments were listed underneath in several dense paragraphs. Jane Chandler’s eyes nearly blurred from reading it all. She once again gained a more visceral understanding of Naomi’s capabilities.
Someone tapped her on the shoulder, startling Jane Chandler. She hurriedly looked to the side.
Seeing her reaction, the wealthy socialite grinned. "Jane, what are you doing? It’s hilarious. Why are you acting like a thief at your own son’s wedding?"
"I was, it’s just..." Jane Chandler trailed off, her thought left unspoken.
Seeing Jane Chandler there, a number of other wealthy socialites came over to chat with her and naturally saw the description of Naomi Kenway’s medal-worthy list of achievements.
"Oh, Jane, your daughter-in-law is truly amazing! She’s won so many awards. My daughter is also clamoring to get into show business. If only she could be as capable as your daughter-in-law!"
"Jane, you’re so blessed. You have such a wonderful son, daughter, and daughter-in-law. Every single one of them is so accomplished! Most people can only dream of this!"
"I knew the bride’s name looked familiar! So she’s your daughter-in-law, Jane! How incredible!"
...
Hearing the praise from those around her, a smile appeared on Jane Chandler’s face. She lowered her head, her voice inexplicably soft. "Yes, she is. She’s a good actress, a good wife, a good mother, and a good daughter-in-law..."

In a room in the banquet hall set aside especially for the children, a few young friends who hadn’t seen each other in a long time were catching up.
"Ian, you look so handsome in that outfit! The bow tie you’re wearing is so cool. I want one too, can you give it to me?"
Jared Woods said, reaching out his hand.
"No! That’s part of Ian’s suit. If he takes it off, it won’t look good anymore!"
Carina Sanders, who was next to him, lightly tapped Jared’s little hand.
"OW!" But Jared’s reaction was completely over the top. He instantly clutched his chubby little hand and cried out pitifully.
"Are you okay?" As the eldest of the group, Simon Sawyer was the first to check on Jared’s hand.
"I... I..." Carina was at a loss, trying to defend herself. "It wasn’t like that! I really didn’t use any force just now. He’s... he’s faking it, Jared is!"
Jared peeked out from behind Simon and made a face. "I was too faking it, nyah nyah nyah! Serves you right for always bullying me!"
"Oh, you!" Carina stood up and made a move to hit him.
Jared hid behind Simon, wailing, "Big Brother Simon, save me!"
Simon Sawyer gave a wry, helpless smile. "You two, stop fooling around."
Carina said, "Big Brother Simon, move aside! Jared never learns his lesson unless he gets a smack. I have to teach him a lesson today!"
Meanwhile, Nathan Lynch quietly took a delicate gift box out of his pocket. He opened it to reveal a few oddly shaped pieces of candy. He said, "Ian, I’ve been so happy ever since I heard your mom and dad were getting married. I made these candies for you myself. I hope you’re happy every day. We’ll be best friends for life!"
Ian Shaw took them, a little stunned. "...You made these yourself?"
"Yeah, my mom taught me for a long time. I picked out the best-looking ones for you. I hope you like them."
"Thanks," Ian said with a smile. "Thank you, Big Brother Nathan. This is a very meaningful gift."
Nathan Lynch scratched his head and smiled.
Jared Woods had already scrambled over to Ian Shaw’s side. He asked with great interest, "Ian, why are your mom and dad only getting married now? My mom and dad got married a long time ago."
"Because this is a make-up wedding. The first one wasn’t done right. Besides, as long as my mom and dad are happy, they can have as many weddings as they want."
"Then, Ian..." Jared asked curiously, "When I grow up, can I marry you?"
Carina grabbed Jared by the ear, her eyes wide. "What nonsense are you talking about? Only people who like each other can get married."
"But I like Ian a lot! What about you, Ian? Do you like me? If you like me too, then can we get married when we grow up, okay?" Jared asked cheerfully, as if he found the idea very amusing.
"We can’t get married," Ian told him seriously. "Even though you’re free to choose whether to marry a boy or a girl, I like girls. I’m going to marry a girl someday."
Jared hadn’t expected that complication. He nodded, only half-understanding. Once the implication sank in, he couldn’t help but start wiping away tears. "If I don’t marry Ian, I can’t live with Aunt Kenway! If I don’t live with Aunt Kenway, I can’t eat her cooking! WAHHH..."
With that, his crying grew even louder.
The other children all had looks of resignation on their faces. So that was his real reason: he wanted to marry Ian just to get close to Aunt Kenway for her delicious food.
